Now Spring has (hopefully) fully sprung, we think it’s time that you should do a bit of spring cleaning – for your car!
There are plenty of places around St Albans that will do this for you – if you are going to to it at home, do make sure you use proper car ‘shampoo’ with clean sponges so you don’t damage or scratch your paintwork. You can easily clean the internal glass with vinegar (if you don’t mind the car smelling for a while afterwards!) or a window cleaner – you may be surprised how much grime comes off your windscreen.
The risk of frost isn’t quite over yet so make sure your windscreen washers and anti-freeze are still topped up. That windscreen wash will be needed for getting bugs off your screen soon so again, we recommend using a proper screen-wash rather than making your own. It’s also worth actually getting round to having any windscreen chips filled professionally – before your car is due its next MOT.
Check your tyre pressures are what they should be (there’s often a guide inside the fuel cap or glove box – if not, look in the manual), especially if you’re planning on a road trip over the bank holiday weekends and that your oil level is correct.
Finally, do make an appointment to come and see us to have your air-conditioning checked. Rob is our resident air-conditioning expert and will be happy to top up your system and check it out so you’re ready for the summer.
Drive carefully – and do let us know if there’s anything you’d like us to cover on this blog.
